Bruce Lee
The comic Bruce Lee was created in 1971 as inspired by the movie The Big Boss starring Bruce Lee. Despite the low tide of the industry, Vincent Kwong managed to make a breakthrough with his innovative ideas of the martial art combat genre, which later became the mainstream in Hong Kong. The legendary title is one of the longest running comics in Hong Kong publishing for almost 40 years. Thanks to the conscientious illustrator, the series did not come to a break until 2009. The comic series has evolved with Hong Kong by the lapse of time. It witnessed the change of the city’s culture and nurtured many comic stars. Without a doubt, it enjoys a stature in the city’s contemporary culture.
Vincent Kwong followed his brother to join the comic industry at the age of 11. In 1971, he started the long comic strips Bruce Lee, whose circulation was on a par with Tony Wong’s Tiger & Dragon Heroes. It is also one of the longest running comics in Hong Kong.
In the mid-60s, Kwong founded the Good Friend Comics Journal and Peter Pan Comics Daily; in mid-70s, he founded four comic papers, namely Hei Pao, Ching Pao, Tong Pao and Comic Strip Daily.
After a brief spell in Jademan Comics, he established 82 Comic House and Kwong's Printing Company Limited.
